Boo-fricking-hoo! It's time to feel for the rich and beautiful people of the world- or at least young rich, and beautiful Americans! A study by the University of Rochester queried recent graduates on their feelings and values and came up with some surprising results.

The "study found that recent college graduates who reported making the most money, obtaining more public recognition, and liking the way they looked were also more anxious, and showed more depressive symptoms, than other postgraduates in the study."

So, basically, the study is saying that the rich and the beautiful are classic nut-jobs. Hah! Yet another dream comes true. And, no, I myself am not without the occasional neurosis or case of the blues, but I am tired of the arrogant a-holes and high-maintenance be-atches who think they are better than others because they look better and have more money. Again, there are real people in real trouble and some people have nothing better to do than complain about the fact their thighs are a little pudgy or they have a pimple marring their once-perfectly beautiful face.

MSN interviewed one of the study's researchers  to give a read on why those who were happier with both their appearance and their success had more negative outlooks on life. Dr. Edward Deci thinks that the people in that situation become so focused on attaining the American dream of wealth and beauty that they don't grow as "human being(s)."

The MSN article then continues to offer some questionable advice to those who may find themselves in the overly successful and beautiful, but miserable category. The "words of wisdom" include little gems like, "Keep a Perspective on Beauty" and "Schedule a sit-down with yourself" because "you may find that working 80-hour weeks to get a promotion is secondary to spending time with family and friends." I'm sorry MSN, because I agree with you on your main points, but anyone who is really working 80 hours a week is not going to spend their time reading advice granted from an MSN column- they're going to need a shrink.
